چکیده
The present case report illustrates the clinical applicability of the proximal isovelocity surface area (PISA) method in identifying, locating and assessing paravalvular prosthetic mitral regurgitation by transthoracic echocardiography.

Accuracy of 3-Dimensional Transoesophageal Echocardiography in Assessment of Prosthetic Mitral Valve Dehiscence with Comparison to Anatomical Specimens
The evolution of echocardiography from 2-Dimensional Transthoracic Echo through to real time 3-Dimensional Transoesophageal Echo has enabled more accurate visualisation and quantification of valvular disorders especially prosthetic mitral valve paravalvular regurgitation. However, validation of accuracy is rarely confirmed by surgical or post-mortem specimens. We present a case directly compari...
متن کاملEffect of mitral valvular regurgitation on transthoracic impedance cardiogram.
Mitral valvular regurgitation consistently modified the wave form of the first derivative of the transthoracic impedance cardiogram. The transthoracic impedance cardiogram was recorded in 23 control subjects (group 1), and 23 patients with isolated mitral regurgitation (group 2). Simultaneous transthoracic impedance cardiogram, electrocardiogram, and mitral valve echocardiograms in group 1 show...
متن کاملMitral valve blood flow quantification by 7D phase contrast SSFP - a feasibility study
Purpose: to assess the feasibility of a new 7D PC-SSFP sequence for single acquisition mitral regurgitation volume quantification. Materials and Methods: The 7D PC-SSFP sequence implementation is based on a regular 3D balanced SSFP gradient scheme with velocity encoding. Accuracy of velocity quantification was confirmed using a flow-phantom. Mitral volume flow was measured in ten healthy subjec...
متن کاملEvaluation of diastolic blood flow dynamic of the left ventricle in dogs with mitral valve regurgitation using vector flow mapping
Mitral valve regurgitation (MVR) is a common valvular disease in dogs. Hydrokinetic evaluation of the blood flow within the ventricles has become possible by vector flow mapping (VFM), which shows the blood flow within the ventricles in vector and vortex flows. Blood flow within the left ventricle of MVR dogs was compared at different stages of MVR and to that of normal dogs. 14 normal dogs and...
متن کاملAssessment of transesophageal pulsed Doppler echocardiography in the detection of mitral regurgitation.
The value of transesophageal pulsed Doppler echocardiography (PDE) was studied in six patients with competent mitral valve and in 12 patients with angiographically proved mild to moderately severe mitral regurgitation. The results were compared with those from the standard transthoracic method of investigation. The advantages of the esophageal over the transthoracic approach in the detection of...
